While it’s only been just over four months since the launch of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, one developer who has already made a name for itself on both platforms is none other than Bloober Team. So far, the developer has launched two games on the current generation of platforms, its first being the cross-generation launch title Observer: System Redux, an enhanced remaster of the 2017 first-person horror game, and the other The Medium, an Xbox Series X/S exclusive inspired by Silent Hill. Now the team has partnered with Koch Media to release physical versions of both games in Europe.
Observer: System Redux was a launch title for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game is a full remaster of Bloober Team’s original 2017 cyberpunk horror title starring the late Rutger Hauer, featuring new story content, enhanced visuals, and ray-traced lighting effects. The Medium released on January 28th for PC and Xbox Series X as an exclusive and is the studio’s most expensive and ambitious game to date. The game featured music from Silent Hill series composer Akira Yamaoka.
To celebrate the success of Observer: System Redux and The Medium, the developer has teamed up with European publisher Koch Media to produce physical copies of both games for sale across Europe. The two previously united to release Bloober Team’s 2019 title Blair Witch physically too. This release also made it to North America, which indicates that both titles are likely to make their way stateside eventually.
The news that Koch Media is planning to release the game physically indicates that the publisher expects the titles to sell successfully, as Microsoft does not allow for limited physical printings of Xbox games, despite The Medium being an Xbox Series X/S exclusive. The physical copies of both games will likely be adopted by hardcore fans of Bloober Team’s work, as The Medium is already readily available to play on Xbox Game Pass, which players can choose to use instead of opting to pay the $50 price tag.
Now that Observer: System Redux and The Medium, two passion projects from Bloober Team, have shipped, it’s not yet known what the Polish horror developer will move on to next. Some fans are already speculating that the developer could be in pre-production for a brand new Silent Hill title, given that the developer’s CEO claimed that it was working on a title based on a very popular horror game IP. The Medium‘s composer, Akira Yamaoka, who is synonymous with his work on almost all of the Silent Hill games, also claimed that a new title he is working on will be revealed in summer of this year.
The Medium is currently available exclusively on PC and Xbox Series X/S and is available on Xbox Game Pass. Observer: System Redux is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The physical editions of both games do not yet have a release date.
