As announced on the official Genshin Impact Facebook page, Ganyu’s banner, “Adrift in the Harbor,” will take place from 12 January 2021, 6:00 p.m., to 2 February 2021, 4:59 pm (EST). This matches perfectly with the release of Ganyu’s Story Quest, which players will be able to take on as Adventure Rank 40.
An in-game notification immediately followed the message, confirming that Adrift in the Harbor is going to add Ganyu as the latest five-star, and replace Bennett, Sucrose, and Fischl with a new four-star trio. Sadly, the latest four-star selection has rapidly attracted criticism for being old: Xingqiu, Noelle, and Xiangling.
Before deciding whether or not to invest in this character, players who have not gotten to know Ganyu should know:
- Ganyu is a wielder of Cryo Vision and an archer.
- She is also compared to Amber – their abilities are very similar, while Ganyu provides some special Cryo DMG perks area of impact
- Ganyu likes to eat the Flower Petals of Qingxin
- She is a half-human hybrid of Adeptus – the blood of the “illuminated beast,” qilin, is said to flow through her veins.
Players will be able to summon Ganyu through the entirety of her flag, and a new five-star character will possibly take the spotlight on or about February 2, 2021. While new characters like Xiao are already planned, at previous features such as Klee, Tartaglia, and the Geo Archon Zhongli, some travellers are itching for a second chance, so maybe new isn’t always best.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
